Research and Training

In order to find mutually acceptable solutions to the current challenges of the region, the Forum will conduct a series of thematic studies. Future themes may revolve around questions concerning current identity-divides, regional integration, managing competition for resources and the future of democracy in the region.

Upon their completion, these research papers will be jointly discussed by researchers, civil society actors and policy-makers of the region. Based on the comments made, they will then be transformed into policy-papers containing concrete policy-recommendations for the Intergovernmental Agency for Development (IGAD) and governments of the region.

In addition, capacity-building training workshops will be organized with a view to assisting policy-makers and civil society actors in the implementation of these recommendations. The Forum wishes hereby to participate to increased dialogue and cooperation between policy-makers and researchers of the region.
