Our mission is to foster dialogue on the future of the Horn of Africa in order to facilitate the formulation and implementation of policies conductive to mutual understanding, regional integration and peace in the region.

The Forum of intellectuals was officially launched with an international conference from 12 to 15 November 2007 in Djibouti. It incited a large public interest with as much as 250 people attending the opening ceremony.

Since its creation several activities have been organized (see "Recent events").

Furthermore, on 28 May 2008, an agreement was signed between the Greater Horn Horizon Forum and the Government of Djibouti. This agreement allows the Forum to work independently and freely within its competencies as a regional think tank.
